Operated by GHCL Limited, Khadsaliya Lignite Mine is the first private-sector captive lignite mine in Gujarat. Spread across 171 hectares in Bhavnagar district of Khadsaliya village , the mining lease was originally granted in 2002, with operations commencing in 2004 to support GHCL’s captive power plant at its Soda Ash facility in Sutrapada. Limestone Mines

GHCL Ltd. has captive Limestone mines at Sutrapada,Veraval and Talala Taluka of Gir-Somnath district. The mines produce an average of 45 MT to 500 MT per day of chemical grade limestone using the Semi – Mechanised method of mining.

Once a particular area is exhausted, it is partially backfilled and used for plantation or converted into agricultural land. This is an ongoing activity and almost 385 hectares of land has been reclaimed and is being used for agriculture, 55 hectares has already been converted into ponds for water storage and close to 17000 trees have been planted here.
