Savings to Self-Reliance: A Woman’s Journey to Entrepreneurship

Meenaben Gadhiya from Kadvar village faced financial challenges, with limited household income and few livelihood opportunities due to her disability. Determined to contribute to her family’s financial stability, she joined a GHCL Foundation-supported savings group.

Through group discussions on savings and livelihood opportunities, Meenaben rediscovered the beauty parlour skills she had learned before marriage. With a livelihood loan accessed through the group, she established a small shop offering beauty parlour services alongside cutlery and household items.

Today, her enterprise generates a regular monthly income of over Rs. 2,000, with seasonal earnings of Rs. 4,000. She manages her loan repayments while contributing to household expenses.

Her journey reflects how GHCL Foundation is enabling women to turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods and build confidence, independence and self-reliance.
