Laxmi has changed her life
Laxmi has changed her life
20 year old Laxmi belongs to Kadiyali village near GHCL’s Salt works at Jafrabad, Gujarat. Her father is a labourer. When she got married, she had lots of dreams but very soon, she lost her husband in a road accident. She came back to her father’s house and imprisoned herself at home and subsequently, went into depression. She did not want to be a burden on her old and poor father. She wanted to do something and decided to find out a way.
Soon, Laxmi heard about GHCL Vocational Training Institute, Jafrabad. She visited the institute with her father and took admission in the Nursing Assistant’s course.
In rural areas, traditions and customs are very dominating. She was a widow, and 20 year old Laxmi was not permitted to wear colourful clothes. GHCL Vocational Training Institute has a dress code for students. So, Laxmi used to leave home in a traditional dress and change before she reached the Institute. Despite all the hardship Laxmi got a breather, a new environment, friends and learning. She enjoyed learning the theory and the practical training of nursing as well as communication, computer and life skills sessions.
She successfully completed her institutional training as well as on the job training in the hospital. Based on the merit of her skills, behaviour and attitude, she was soon placed in a hospital. After gaining experience for a year, she was promoted as the in charge of Nursing in the Orthopaedic department with good increment and achieved the star employee award.
We are proud of her progress and happy to help people like Laxmi change their life for the better.
